LED Walls work no matter how cold it might be!
During winters, the temperature reaches below -20C in central Europe. Finland and Sweden are extremely affected by these temperatures, with a past history of having below 50C. In these extreme weather conditions, our clients are concerned about whether LED Screens can sustain such temperatures or not. So everyone is concerned with the question of How Cold Will It Be??
LED Video Walls and Extremely Cold Weather Conditions
To your utter surprise, LED operates better when colder. A maximum of -30C temperature is written on the LED, specifying the lowest operating temperature. Almost -30C is the lowest temperature that prevails in European cities during winter, however, occasionally temperatures reach -50C. On the other hand, it is a fact that electronic circuits installed in LED Screens don’t go well together, due to their reactive nature.
Protecting LEDs in lower temperatures over a long period of time
The LED displays consist of LEDs, power supplies, control boards, chips, and wires. These components of LEDs heat up within each module’s metal cabinet. This allows LEDs to maintain a warmer and drier temperature which is very ideal for LED Screens.
We aim at maintaining this temperature in each module. The goal is to keep the LED screens operative 24/7, evening tonight in cold weather. During extremely cold weather it is best to keep LEDs on 24/7. This helps LED screens to maintain an acceptable temperature to operate.
The LED Screens consist of LEDs, power supplies, control boards, chips, and wires. These components of LEDs heat up within each module’s metal cabinet. This allows If the LED screens are turned off at night during cold temperatures, the internal climate of each module drops. This creates a problem while turning the LED screen on again. The most sensitive component of LED screens which are PCs may damage.
Our LEDs are installed globally, some city regulations do not allow them to keep LED screens operative 24/7. But, even have a solution for that, our clients can keep their indoor and outdoor LED screens in standby mode. This will help in keeping LEDs warm and dry, maintaining the internal temperature.
This means that LED screens are alive but not active. Only experts can judge whether the screen is turned off or on standby, as there is no difference on the outside, but inside it matters a lot.
Our LED screens are designed in a way that only one click can switch from alive to stand-by. This enables our clients to easily maintain the LED screens without any damage in extreme climates. An added feature also allows our clients to select between completely black or a clock during stand-by.
However, if the regulations are very strict and require complete LED screen turn-off, then a solution exists. The LED screen can be heated with the help of electrical heaters to keep the modules warm. This will help in prolonging the LED screen life and quality.
